Blossoming Together.

For the Caretakers of the Children

I first came across this poem when reading the insightful and inspiring book 100 Ways to build self-esteem and teach values by Diana Loomans.

There is something deeply moving about this poem. For me, the thread of virtues and the many inner qualities we want to cultivate and develop with the children we care for; love, compassion, freedom, respect, self-discipline, independence, acceptance, strength, mindfulness, humanity and if you dig deeper there are way more.

What strikes an even deeper chord within me, is the strong message towards the carer blossoming in their own garden! That as parents and educators our wellbeing is as important as our child’s.

Is it possible to give all those things to ourselves that we give to child?

Diana Loomans encourages us so beautifully to do just that.

For the Caretakers of the Children

To the Caretakers of the Children

Who do the most honourable and challenging work on the face of the earth,

May you live with compassion,

And teach with great love.

May you love the children as they are,

And inspire them to be even more.

May you see the world through their eyes,

And remain rooted in your own ground.

May you guide the children with direction,

And allow them to find their own way.

May you teach them self-discipline.

And treat them with great respect.

May you show the children your humanness,

And be a model of strength.

May you be present for the children,

And give them freedom to explore.

And may you blossom in your own garden,

As you nurture the seedlings to full bloom.

May this beautiful poem inspire you, lift your spirits and remind you of how deeply spiritual parenting and the caring for children can be for you and all the children in your life.

Yours in Harmony
