How do you choose Respect?
For Parents
Use the word RESPECT in your day to day interactions with your child. Use it to acknowledge and to teach and guide. Giving Growth Mindset Praise - "Thank you for being respectful and picking up your toys to clean up your room." "I see how respectful you were to your coach when you showed your gratitude by saying thank you for the iced drink." Anywhere you can, bring it into your family’s life in empowering ways.
For Educators
Create a rich and meaningful conversation around RESPECT. Ask the children what it means for them, how do they show it, who do they know that is respectful? What's one sign of respect that they choose every day? How can they respect others even when they disagree with their viewpoint? It's a great way to encourage and nurture respect and get to know the children in your classroom and for them to get to know each other on a more heart to heart level. Is it one of the classroom values? How do you bring it into daily life for yourself and the children?
