Why Kids love YOGA!!

Children are the ultimate professionals when it comes to having fun.  Kids love yoga because it is not only fun but an opportunity for them to discover an exercise program that can bring so many benefits to their lives and relationships!.

Yoga is an exercise system that synergizes the body,  the mind and the spirit.  Children feel stronger, more flexible and an over all sense of joy and peace when participating in Yoga classes.

Yoga moves, bends, releases, and empowers bodies of all ages.  It also stretches, and empowers the mind.  It can assist children to have more self control and to let go and feel confident and wise in situations that they may have found challenging.  Yoga brings about a greater sense of purpose and understanding in all relationships - with themselves, their friends, family, community and world.  It can motivate the sporty child to become a better athlete and also give a greater sense of acceptance and confidence to the child that may be perceived or labelled clumsy.

Yoga isn’t about changing the child, it is about refining and nourishing what is all ready there.  It is about bringing to flower the natural beauty and essence of each individual child through the gift and opportunity of having Yoga in their life.

Testimonial

Kerry has an amazing gift to be able to relate to children on a level that they feel loved, respected but more importantly understood.  I truly feel when I leave my son in the care and compassionate hands of Kerry’s classes that he is loved, nurtured and given the opportunity to grow and develop spiritually, emotionally and physically.  I feel lucky that such a program exists for our family.

Kids in Harmony

Is a music and lifeskills education program that is a creative blend of music, massage, relaxation, yoga play and virtues education.  It is designed to lay the foundations of music while instilling many virtues of moderation (balance - through relaxation), respect, acceptance, kindness and persistence.  The harmony program is a joyous, non competitive program and believes soley in the role of the parent being the most important teacher in a childs life.  Our teachers are specifically trained and educated in the Harmony program and are all dedicated and passionate about early childhood development through, emotional, physical and spiritual education.

We look forward to you loving our program as much as we do delivering it to you!

Your role within the program

At Kids in Harmony you are the supervisor of your child. We aim to facilitate the program in a safe environment and require your assistance to be able to achieve this. We believe that your values, needs and beliefs play an important role in setting the limits and boundaries for your child. It is not our right to enforce our style of discipline or beliefs onto you (as this is a very personal area for families). If you have any concerns within the class, please speak to your teacher. We offer suggestions to all parents/caregivers should you be going through a challenging time and have many strategies and ideas to help you and your child.

What to expect of your child in class

All young children and some adults need time to get used to a new room, a new environment, new faces and the structure of the program.

Children like and need familiarity and repetition, therefore it is important for you to give them time to settle into their music program. Singing the songs at home, playing the Harmony CD (Happy Songs or Harmony Bliss is available to purchase but not a necessity) or talking about the class positively will help assist them to become more comfortable with their new friends and experiences.

If you feel your child is struggling to feel settled into their class environment, it is important that you inform us so that we may give you some suggestions to help you with this.

 What To Bring To Class

Wear comfortable clothing as the session is performed on the floor. You may like to bring some water and a light snack for after class. We encourage that you do not bring toys to class as thy can be very distracting for your child and other children. Please inform us if your child has an emotional attachment or security need for a toy in class.
