Hi, my name is Kerry Spina. I am the owner director of Kids in Harmony. As a wife and mother, I fully understand the pressure and expectation we put on ourselves in becoming the best parents that we can be, and the need to give our children emotional security and an ideal learning environment both in and outside the home. It was finding this balance that lead to the creation of this program.

Early childhood has always been a love of mine and I am blessed to be part of such a positive program. I love the rewards this program offers our ‘Kids in Harmony’ families.

I have been a Remedial Therapist and Infant Massage Instructor since 1998 and this is where my passion grew for baby/early childhood development and parent education.

My husband and I not only share a passion for Natural Therapies and Child Development but we also share a passion for our beautiful little boy Isaac.  Isaac has taught us more about life than any course, book or workshop could ever deliver.  Most importantly he teaches us to enjoy life to the fullest and to live in the present moment.   We love and enjoy parenthood and both believe in the importance of instilling in our child a strong sense of self-belief.

Lucia Gosling

Was the original co-creator with Kerry Spina. Due to the very successful growth of Lucias’ business (Arties Music and the Music Hut) she left the Kids in Harmony Program in June 2004. Lu still plays an advisory role in the Kids in Harmony program and continues to give support to the centre. Although she may not be present at the centre she will never be forgotten. Lucia and her husband Wayne were very instrumental in the operations of Kids in Harmony and it was the original “funky purple shed” behind Arties music that gave Kids in Harmony its original home and foundation.

Hi, my name is Jo Alloway. I have been involved in Early Childhood Education for over thirteen years and hold an Associate Diploma of Early Childhood, which I completed in 1995. I was first introduced to Kids in Harmony as a childcare professional, but it was while studying Music Business at JCU in 2003 that I was offered the exciting opportunity to become part of the Kids in Harmony family. I completed my facilitator training in 2004 however I decided to accept the position of full-time co-ordinator.  I love my role at Harmony and have great pleasure in supporting and spending time each week with the Harmony families.

Working within the childcare environment gave me an insight into how empowering music and movement can be in all areas of children’s lives. I am so excited to share my great passion for music and the modalities of massage and relaxation as part of this inspiring program.

Music not only empowers children, but also the lives of adults as I have discovered growing together with my partner David who, as a drummer, encourages my personal interest in playing bass guitar as well as my love of music as an encompassing part of our lives.

Tennille Drovandi

Tennille is a Kids in Harmony Facilitator/Teacher. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing Science: specializing in Surgical and Paediatric (children) nursing in 1999. Tennille’s love of learning and child development had her complete a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education in 2004. Level 1& 2 Radiant Child Yoga Program and in 2007 attended the Simply Kids Yoga private customised training workshop in Children’s Yoga: Incorporating safe yoga practices into the Kids in Harmony Program for babies to 7 Years.

Hi, my name is Tennille Drovandi. I have been involved in the health and wellbeing of children and their families for the past seven years. My formal qualifications are in Nursing and Early Childhood Education. It is through nursing children together with my love of learning and a highly inspiring family of teachers, that my energy for early childhood development has evolved and continued to grow through study and classroom experiences.

I believe the early years of learning are the most important and recognise children, as unique with individual needs and strengths. I view parent/carers as important role models for their children and believe children feel more secure and learn more effectively in an environment that values parents/carers and teachers as joint educators. As a mother and teacher, I believe ‘Kids in Harmony’ is an ideal early learning program that promotes the important role of the family and values the holistic (social, emotional, physical, intellectual) development of the child through a friendly, positive and supporting learning atmosphere.

I was first introduced to this wonderful, stimulating and holistic program following the birth of my beautiful son, Harry. Harry was medically diagnosed with reflux, so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered a program that provided not only a physically ideal early learning environment, but also one of social and emotional calm and security (massage and relaxation). Harry is living proof of the benefits of music, movement, massage and relaxation!

I am delighted to join the ‘Kids in Harmony’ family and am enthusiastic about teaching a program that delivers so many amazing benefits to children and their families. My husband and I cherish our new roles as parents and feel blessed to have found a program that reflects our ideals for Harry and Fred. I look forward to sharing this enriching experience with you.

Kate Martyn

Hi, my name is Kate Martyn; I am delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in such a unique program that has positive outcomes for families, the community and most importantly, our children.

I have always enjoyed being a part of the growth and development of children and their families. I first started in the childcare industry in 1997, when I completed a Certificate in Childcare from the College of Early Childhood Studies in Indooroopilly, Brisbane, and worked in childcare locally until the birth of my first child.

When I first started providing care for children at age 18, I was enthusiastic about giving children opportunities to be creative, individual and spontaneous. All areas that I am still passionate about, with my own beautiful children: Braithan and Jazlyn. And now, 10 years later, I am excited about combining my passions in my role as a facilitator within  kids in harmony.

The Kids in Harmony program is one I truly believe in. It is refreshing to be part of a program that recognises the importance of teaching children to relax and listen to their inner being, and provide parents with a support and practical ways to implement relaxation into their homes and everyday lives.

I feel that teaching children to love and appreciate, who they are in their developing years, provides the foundation for a healthy self-confidence and esteem. I love that the program also encourages and promotes the important virtues of respect, acceptance and harmony. What better way to encourage this beautiful balance than through the creative medium of music and movement!

I am enthusiastic about providing support to parents and families in the kids in harmony community .I look forward to lots of singing, dancing, learning, growing, and harmony with you on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hi my name is Ann-Marie Torrisi and I have been working with children 0 – 12 yrs for a period of 18years, but it was while I was living in Townsville in 2000 that I discovered my passion for working directly with parents. Since then I have been facilitating parent education programs.

In 2003 my family and I decided to move back to the Tablelands and I was delighted to open up the first Kids In Harmony facility outside of Townsville.
With support from Kerry and my wonderful family over the past four years I have established centres in Mareeba, Atherton and Cairns including child care centre programs.

This holistic program allows me to blend my love of working with children and parents in a fun, supportive and educational environment.

I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing this unique program of music, massage and relaxation to the families of this region and am very excited about being a part of a bright and innovative future with Kids In Harmony.
